15-year-old cyclist gets hit by Glenview Train, dies

GLENVIEW, IL – A 15-year-old cyclist died after an Amtrak train hit him before 7 pm Friday, ABC 7 Chicago reported.

Authorities identified the boy as Ryan McDonagh of Northbrook, who was struck by a North Glenview Station train at 2301 Lehigh Ave. The train hit him at a pedestrian crossing.

The 178 passengers on the train were unharmed. McDonagh’s death was ruled an accident.

Glenview police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office have not released additional details, but they are investigating the crash.
