MARSHALL COUNTY, IL – A Friday afternoon three-vehicle crash on the southbound lanes of I-39 in Marshall County claimed a person’s life.
The collision happened around 4:15 pm, the Heart of Illinois ABC reported.
A Mercedes Sprinter Van ended up hitting the rear end of a semi-truck. Then a Chevrolet Volt slammed into the Mercedes Sprinter Van and the semi-truck. The Volt driver was later charged for failing to reduce their speed.
The semi-truck also hit the back of a parked Cadillac.
All victims were taken to local hospitals.
The semi-truck driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The Chevrolet Volt and Mercedes Sprinter Van drivers suffered life-threatening injuries.
The sprinter van driver succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
