DES PLAINES, IL – A 76-year-old woman died Friday in a four-vehicle crash along the interstate in northern Cook County.
The incident occurred just before 4 p.m. on the southbound side of I-294 near Gold Road, which is on the north side of Des Plaines.
Police haven’t shared any details regarding the cause of the accident. They say that four vehicles collided in a chain-reaction, killing one of the drivers at the scene. Authorities identified her as Bernice Pawilan.
Medics transported three other people to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
