Narrative
HARVEY, IL – A major accident involving a freight train and a car resulted in three fatalities on Wednesday.
The crash occurred in the afternoon at on the railroad tracks just north of East 153rd Street and Park Avenue in the city of Harvey. This is about 23 miles south of Chicago.
Police say that the driver of a silver sedan carrying three people ignored the crossing gates, drove onto the tracks, and entered the path of a CSX freight train. The car was then dragged by the train for at least two blocks.
All three occupants of the car died. Authorities have identified one of the victims as 32-year-old Keith A. Walker. The names of the other two victims have not yet been released.
No other injuries have been reported at this time.
A full investigation is underway.
