Narrative
STEPHENSON CO., IL – Three adults and two children sustained injuries Thursday in a major accident involving a YMCA bus in southwest Stephenson County.
Emergency crews responded to the solo crash around 9:15 a.m. on South Rink Road near West Dublin Road. This is just west of Fulton and about 30 miles west of Rockford.
Police say that for unknown reasons, the driver of a YMCA bus carrying 21 additional passengers lost control of the vehicle and left South Rink Road, hitting an electrical box.
Medics transported three children and one adult passenger to an area hospital with non-critical injuries.
The driver required hospitalization for serious injuries.
Officials closed South Rink Road in the area of the collision for several hours while emergency crews assisted the victims and worked to clear the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
